Abundant Life Today
14/08/15 22:46
Jesus said, "I have come that you might have life (Gr. "zoe") and have it MORE ABUNDANTLTY. This sums up how Jesus' mission to this Earth was focused. He came that we "might". It didn't say that it was up to Him that we have "abundant life". That translation says that an "abundant life" was available.
We need to ask ourselves this question, "Why am I doing this today?" "Am I being forced to live my life this way?" "What did I do (or not do) that has put me i this position?" Finally, "Am I destined to continue in this direction for the rest of my life (and where is it leading?)"
I like to hold up a quarter and look at it as "zoe" rather than a 25 cent piece.
I can walk around all day possessing "eternal life" and think about how valuable it will be when I'm gone from the earth or I can enjoy it today.
Everlasting life is not a future event.
John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
John 4:44"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
It is written in the Prophets: 'They will all be taught by God.'
Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.
No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father.
I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. (not will have)
I am the bread of life.
